Default Next 3 months of mods..

After a brief hiatus from truck mods while I re-did my home theatre, I'm back in time for spring / summer. Build plan as follows:

Thunder Racing 220/220 112 w/ 26918 Springs and TR Hardened Pushrods
ARP Cam Bolt Kit
ASP Underdrive with ARP Balancer Bolt
Yank 3000 with ARP Torque Converter Bolts
Trans-Go HD2 and supporting Servos
JetHot supplied Pacesetter LTs w/ ORY to meet with my existing 3" cat-back
Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts
Airaid Charge Pipe w/ K&N Drop In element
Various Gaskets

and, of course, a Nelson 91/93 Hot Tune to pull it all together. Figure 50% TM Reduction and removal of Abuse Mode, but may only drop to 70% TM to be safe. I've heard it's not wise to completely remove TM on a lightly modded tranny.

I think this is a fairly standard build, but would be interested in hearing comments / suggestions. Can't really think of anything else to do while I'm in there. Digging through threads I decided to pick up the Crane Valve Spring tool to make the spring change a bit quicker. Seems like every time I switch cars, I need a different compressor I’ll be starting with the intake and headers this month and will go ahead and install those pieces. Everything else will be installed in the same weekend sometime end of April or beginning of May after I’ve accumulated all parts.

One variation I considered was to run an x-pipe to duals instead of the ORY. Thinking that’s going to be too much exhaust though and I'm not trying to loose too much low end. Thoughts on this specifically in relation to my build would be appreciated.

A bit further down the road I won't be doing too much more to it. I'll most likely be adding a 125 shot and at the same time upgrade to a FLT Level 4 and have the Nelson retuned for 0% TM. New differential would also be in the picture. These particular mods are about a year out though.

Sounds like a solid plan. This is a 5.3?
I dont think running a 2.5" dual setup would cost you much, if any, low end. Your going to run a 3000rpm stall anyway.

Well... it is at the moment, but generally speaking no. It's an '06 and I only have 10,500 miles on it. Was driving an 89 Camry to work but at 260k miles, it is no more. So for the past few weeks I've been driving the truck. Should have a new beater by summer though, so no biggie.

Correct, 5.3. Considering going with a Yank SS instead of the TT3000 so would be 3200 stall I do believe, should be better for my cam anyway. I've been going through exhaust threads here this morning looking at pics of people with custom x-pipe installs. Doesnt look like too much of a pain overall, just need to find a decent exhaust shop to handle the specifics.

One other thing to note. I'm quite possibly going to go ahead and pull the G80 out and replace it with a TruTrack and upgrade the 3.73s to 4.10s while I'm in there. With a 3200 stall, I think that's the way to go and I'd rather avoid having a gernaded differential if at all possible. Should be able to get a few bucks for the 10k mile take off G80 on ebay too.

Even better. 4.10's and a TruTrac will compliment the rest of your mods.

Get'er done!
