Default newbies first questions about his first GM

hey guys just got a really good deal on a ex cab 2002 4.8L....10,000 with 30000 miles and its mint.....well i have never had a gm or chevy so i dont know what to look at as far as sponsers or part manfactures or what i can do to this motor....please help me with the deal i got....im gonna have like $2800 to be abkle to put into it so any advise would help!!

nelson tune, trailblazer torque convertor, used long tubes, magnaflow cat back, used intake. check the for sale section. Always some parts in there for cheap money.

For 2800 dollars you could drop a 6.0L into it =)

6.0 swap, and tune... possibly some cheap used headers....

6.0L swap and a built tranny, sell the used 4.8L and tranny to defray the costs and you should be able to afford the tune with that budget.

no cam? i did that first when i had a dodge....does it not give you gains in a gm?? also whats the benifit of a TQ converter? im going to use this truck mostly as a DD and on the weekendends i will be using it for fun...desert,moutains
