Default Newbie needs some help

First this is a great forum. I have already found a lot of very useful information and it appears that there is an awful lot of very knowledgeable people out there.

My goal: I want to put a GEN III motor into a older Jag and have a manual transmission. I also want to run on reg 87 octane gas as I need more torque than high rev HP.

What I think that I want to do is to find a complete 5.3 truck engine and attach it to a car T56. I like this idea because:

1. Truck engines appear to be cheaper.
2. All GEN III type engines share the same architure.
3. Truck engines do not require 91 octane/premimum gas
4. Truck engines have comp torque numbers

It would seem like this sould be a bolt on affair. I also think that I could use a clutch/flywheel set up from a LS1 car application.

What do you guies think? Is this a workable plan?

Any insight would be great!!!

Thanks Wayne

The LQ9 motor really should be fed with the 93 octane fuel. You may want to steer away from that one.
