Default Newbie with 5.3 supercharger questions

This seems to be a great place for me to start asking questions. Well I just picked up a Gibbs Tahoe with the 5.3sc, now Ive never owned anything running boost before so I hope I dont come off as a complete idiot. So heres a couple issues/questions I have...

1. On a cold start up it studders for a couple seconds then fires up. Im guessing new plugs could fix the issue?? Maybe fuel issue?? Any ideas as to what it may be are appreciated.

2. On high RPMs i have some black smoke coming from the exhaust. Im thinking theres a link between these 2, maybe not all of the fuel is getting burnt out bc of bad plugs? Any ideas on the cause of this?

3. What kind of maintnence needs to be done on the superchargers themselves?? The truck is at 120k miles so I want to keep on top of issues before anything happens.

Thanks for any input fellas!

A basic once over will never hurt that's for sure.

It's hard to guess at exactly the cause of the rough start but there are things you can do to help. A dirty MAF sensor could cause rough starts and that sensor also is a main factor in controlling fueling. So if it's dirty and not reading right it can be a cause for poor performance. If you don't know the condition of the plugs, it's worth changing them. Dirty fuel filters and injectors could cause a stumble, injector cleaner and a new filter could be in order.

Most superchargers do not really require any major service at all. Sometimes the couplers get worn but the biggest thing is just a fluid. I know on my old M90 powered car they had a allen bolt right on the front to make changing the fluid easy. Me personally I'd change it at that mileage, most dealerships sell the fluid too.
