Default New to the truck side!!!

Hey guys and gals, I don't normally post here because I don't own a truck yet. I'm in the process of trading in my camaro for something, seeing that my lease is up this month. I was a the dealership last night, and I fell in love with this gorgeous black ext. cab Chevy Silverado. I was decked out, It had the 5.3 ltr motor, perfomance 3.73 axle, leather, all for 29 big ones. My question is, Is there alot of performance things available for trucks? I really might consider getting it. Any .02's would be appreciated.....Rockls1

they is a TON of performace stuff for trucks. just about everything you can do to the fbods you can do for the trucks. the 5.3L are pretty damn quick for trucks too. just don't expect the raw performance you got from yur car. and good luck on getting the truck you want.

Thanks by the way, What would it take (mod wise) to get a 5.3 ltr ext cab truck into the 13 or 12 sec mark???

13's on the motor is possible and 12 are if you look heads and cam. Pick you favorite power adder and 13's is no problem with bolt-ons and 12's are not too far along. You'll fina lots of good info here and whatever you picked-up from the LS1 is about 90% interchangable here.

Good luck with your new purchase.

I sold my 99 Formula 6-speed about a month ago, and have about 3000 miles on a 2002 RCSB 5.3 with 3.73. So far I am very pleased but there are some things that need to be taken care of. First get a cat-back so you can actually hear the engine. Second is LS1-edit. It seems GM really took some fun out of driving these trucks with the torque management. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
Otherwise it has been a very solid daily driver and I have been happy overall. Good Luck
