Default New truck

It's almost a done deal.

Both a good and bad, I am getting a new truck. I hate to give up my Z, but .. if performance is the thought, then the Z has to go for the simple fact I can't keep a tranny in it. REALLY good side, I was able to get an even swap for an 03 Chevy FS, RCSB, 5.3, power windows/lock, keyless entry, auto tranny w/ 3.42 locking rear. I put the deposit down on it today.

The bad part is .. I lost my Yank, and about 2k worth in the transmission that was slipping wiht the blower, but fine with a stock motor. I wanted to step up to a bigger convertor anyways, but would have liked to have been able to get something for the 2600.

I will have to get me a tranny before the blower goes back on, so it may be a little while.

I guess I will have to get EDIT for the new truck as well. Does anyone know how that works? Can I send my cable back and get it redone so that it will only read the new PCM and not the old one without paying the $250 to do it?

One other thing I couldn't take off the Z was the front sway bar. I have a rear Hotchkis sway bar for a stock height 4wd truck if anyone's interested. I will probably put up a post in the for sale section too for this.

Let me know ya'lls thoughts .. good or bad ..

He will charge you for a new PCM-250 i believe.
Is this new one a 4WD?
Why didn't you just try someone else for a tranny?
Ken is or was doing that Art Carr GP thing thru Pacific Audio for awhile

Sam, I also came to the conclusion that the 4wd ECSB style truck was just to heavy and I would have to spend a lot more money to make it handle well. Besides that, I couldn't get anyone around here to race me in a 4wd. They all looked at it and just laughed, then when I would launch it they would be scared to race.

01 5.3, I would like to sell it semi-local, but if no one around here wants it, it's yours. Be warned though, it is heavy and shipping will more than likely be kinda high as it's big too.

After having the new truck for a couple of days, I think I like it better than the 4wd. This thing feels like a sports car compared to the old one. It turns sooooo much sharper in a parking lot than the 4wd does. The engine pulls like there is no tomorrow for being stock.

One thing funny I did notice is that the throttle cable is a fly by wire. I hope that isn't gonna give me any fits when I go to put the blower on. I like everything else about the truck. THe throttle nt moving with the cuise control is going to take some getting used to. I can say that my mileage should be about twice what the Z71 was getting which is definantly a good thing.

I am planning on building me a speaker box for it tomorrow. If time provides this weekend, I will be putting the E-fans and a bigger radiator in as well as a 160* thermo. The system will be the first thing to go in though as the stock stereohas no ***** what so ever.

Good luck with it man! I have to have a 4WD, or I would have a Vette or F bod.
We get some snow here, done the 2WD too many winters
Mine is running alot better, got the A/F to 11-11.5 in PE mode. It was at 9-9.5 before I changed the tune a couple days ago.Extremely rich.
Good luck with the new truck. Sam

Thanks ..
I bet mine was running about that rich. Once I gutted the cats it would damn near knock you over with the strong exhaust smell. One I pulled the headers off and went back with the manifolds it was all good again, of course it was also bone stock at that point.

I still would have sourced out a new trans it just seems you were getting taken for... but I have been down that road many times when you just get so fed up with a vehicle you will just turn it and never look back.

Do what makes you happy...hence why I am selling my truck at a loss to someone and picking up their 160K mi LS400 Lexus (needs new seats to be worth ~$5500 trade in in fair condition) so that will put up enough to keep payments similar on a Duramax.

Hey Flyer, all the 2003's have DBW throttles, and the radix you have will work fine, but you need to contact them and order, the different setup that is used with the wireless throttle body. When I talked to them, they said that the program is slightly different for the 2003 models, and the bracket setup for the TB is different also!

congrats on your new truck! I love the new arrival blue color and the new trucks interior styling/quality is a step up, at least I think so.
