Default New Track Time

Well, ran my baseline of 16.2 at 83 mph when I first got the truck. Ran last night at test and tune. Got a 15.8 at 86mph. NOT IMPRESSED! But when I ran my stock time, it was no mods, and 82degrees outside with half tank of gas. Last night it was 114degrees and half a tank. That 32degrees of temperature seemed to kick my trucks butt. NO tire spin at all, cause the truck felt wea k. I was happy to run .4 seconds faster than when the truck was stock. It feels as fast as stock with this heat, but shifts so much stronger and at the higher rpm, made a difference. With this temperature they say that it should loose about 45hp to heat. Funny, later after dark it dropped to 93 degrees outside, then the truck felt pretty damn good again. I wish I could get some good runs, with a nice temperature, to see the true upgrade in performance.

Do these numbers seem right to you guys? That is for the mods that I have done!? I am also at 2000 ft elevation here in Vegas.

Those times seem about right. My truck ran a 16 flat at 84 mph at palmdale, which has an elevation fo 2700 feet! The times correct to a 15.54. That was with only an exhaust and air filter.

Your times corrected for elevation would be 15.79 and 15.4, both decent times. Is your truck a regular cab or extended cab, 2WD? If its a regular cab I think you could definietly pull low 15's, in cooler weather. In fact in cooler weather you should definitely drop a few tenths off your quarter time, regardless of your body style

Its cool to see how another 03's is running!
Hey how do you like your 160 thermo? I havent put mine in my truck yet so just wondering if you had any problems. Whats the temp usually stay at?

I live in san fernando valley which can get pretty hot too. About a week ago it was 103!

During the hot days, the temperature stays at about 188 degrees, according to the Predator. When it drops below one hundred outside, I usually loose about 10 degrees in the coolant. I also used water wetter in the system, and ran 30/70 mix of coolant 30% and distilled water 70%. I would say that it runs about 180 on the average, and it does seem to make my motor run a little stronger!
