Sounds like that truck is really coming together now. Nice times. How does it drive? Is this your daily driver?

I assume you are still running without a power adder. Are you still running the stock cam in your LS1? What size converter are you running?

what exactly have you done to that thing? seems like alot of stock fbodys can't do any better that mid 13's and from what i can see you at a 14 flat with just intake and exhaust and tune? thats prety impresive

Seeing this makes you wonder if that aluminum block LS1 might be a better choice than a 6 liter. Less weight, runs cooler, great power...

Default New Time for FarmTruc, last night at RCR

no additional mods or anything, i'm just getting the launch down a little better each time, considering i have a single track rearend and AT tires.

did a 14.00@100.17mph, still have a shitty 60' at 2.35

13's here i come.

i did lean the injectors out a little bit, then i started overpowering the track/tires, and kept spinning from mid to the top of 1st and spinning thru second.

oh well, after i finally get the posi/gears/et streets, i should be in the mid 13's.
it's just a matter of talking the wife into it

later,

allen

Thanks for the comments,

i'm running a stock ls1 vette engine with 6.0L truck intake, K&n, and 6.0L manifolds with 2 1/2 dual exhaust.

I'm running a yank 2600 stall, no power adder.

i've also done a little bit of ls1edit tuning, but that's all i've done.
this engine is just running great,

i agree with Bigtex, going with an ls1 is the way to go, it seems they just respond better to mods, not that i have any major ones, but i've seen guys put a couple thousand into their 5.3 or a 60swap and not run too much quicker,

i can beat stock, or very lightly modded, trans ams and camaro's on the street, so i'm wondering if i get some traction, if i'll be low 13's?

forgot, ya it's my daily driver, i drive all the across SA, about 35miles one way, and it runs flawlessly,
get's over 20mph, idles great, and the highway power is awesome,
i like to surprise those people who try and race me and assume the dirty, old farmtruc is going to get wipped, ahahh

i really can't wait till traction is resolved and i can hang with those modded, low 13 lightning's.

Gotta love the aluminum motors and more compression

You should definately explore the market for some custom headers for that animal...Gains from these are well documented, but probably expensive for your application.

hmm, if you tap on a piece of iron and then on aluminum it sure seems like the aluminum deadens the sound and the iron carries it. you could be on to something.

listening to the car guys they make 1-2 deg of kr sound huge, i am happy with anything less than 4deg as long as it is tapering off.

my encounter is just one, don't know if it proves anything, but,

i increased timing my timing up to 32 deg, without any knock, well, i have .5 deg at the top of second, but i can live with that, haven't put any race gas to see if it's real or not,
BUT,
my buddies truck can only go (not only, it's hight also) up to 29 before it show 1deg.

i bet you're right, iron conducts that freq. a little better than aluminum. good point.

you can always swap your truck engine out really cheap these days, i mean a short block, and then tune it, i bet you'd see a lot of gain.

i would like to hear more about the alum vs iron det./timiing.

thanks,

allen
