All I did was replace my old NGK TR-55 plugs (gapped @ .050") with some new ones. I noticed that during the cold start, the motor didn't rev to about 1500rpms and slowly fall like it used to. Now it cranks and finds the idle (which is set at 750rpms) instantly. I test drove it around the block and it runs much smoother than it has been.
When changing them out, I found 2 plugs that really got my attention. the first one was crusty white and had oil on it and the other one had alot of white crust built up on it and also had a tiny bit of oil on it. I think this is the reason it runs a little smoother.
Oil on the spark plugs, isn't that a sign of blow-by/bad oil rings?
