Default New project, Cherokee 6.0 swap, cam questions.

Hey guys, haven't posted on here in awhile. I'm getting ready to move to Minnesota in a few months and once I get there I will be starting on a new project (already collecting parts). I'm going to be building an XJ Cherokee 4dr, swapping in a 6.0/4L60E combo. I plan on lifting the jeep about 4.5" with some 33's (possible 6.5" with 35's), swapping the rear out for a dana 44, upgrading the front dana 30 with a truss, superior axles, arb. I won't be doing any EXTREME wheeling so don't see the 30 being too big of a problem with the supporting mods. I'm plan on keeping the stock 6.0 heads and intake, and just upgrading the springs, injectors and throttle body. I'm thinking of using a Torquer V.2 cam. From some of the dyno graphs I have seen, this cam makes good low end torque and good power.I'm thinking of runnign a TB stall(I still want this to get decent mileage, tow, and crawl at lower rpms). How well do you think the TV.2 would work in my setup? I've seen some guys make over 400rwhp on a torque v.2 and stock ls1 heads (with supporting bolt-ons). The wife is part of the reason for not going 408, afr, FAST setup lol. Since this isn't my main project, she wants me to keep it on the cheap (well what you can call cheap). Any info guys?

Being a previous multiple Jeep owner (5 XJs, 1 YJ, & 1 ZJ) this sounds sweet! Please keep it updated w/ pics if you can.

What Transfer case are you going with?
Have you looked in a Ford 8.8 for the rear? They can be found pretty cheap, newer ones have disc brakes and are stronger than the 44. Only real downside is that they have C-clips.

Ya I was thinking of an 8.8, and more so a 9in for the reason that I can have a diff sitting in my garage with different gears. I was thinking like a 3.55 around town and a 4.56 or so out on the trail. The 44 can be found stock in 87-90 towing package cherokee's so is a direct bolt-in is why I was looking at it. I do like the disc brakes on the 96+ 8.8's!! I will for sure keep you guys updated. It will be a few months before I even purchase the jeep, just getting all my ducks in a row first. Got the a-ok from the wife last night haha. I'm an going to do the NP231 (stock) with a SYE kit from JB conversions, lwider chain and a full rebuild. I can get these parts for less than the price of a 241, and I can do the build work so not too worried about it.

A 9" w/ extra third members sitting around w/ different gear sets would be nice! Pricey but nice.

TV2 . . . you mean a TRex ? That's a huge cam . . .

get a small torquey cam . . . 218/220 something, and use LS6 springs

A stall and crawl - do not mix . . . that's a ton of heat for a 60e . . . just keep the stocker and get some 4.10s or 4.88s or even 5.13s if they will fit.

No I think he's talking about TSP's Torquer V.2 cam.

Not quite as big as the Trex but that's a lot larger than I would go for a crawler. I didn't realize the specs on the TV.2 cam till now.

Well it's not going to be a "crawler" per se. I'm building it as a daily driver for Minnesota, I think it will see more snow and mud than rocks. The rpm range from talking to TSP is 1800+, and with a TB stall (around 2400-2600) it would be fine. I'll be running 2 tranny coolers (one in radiator one seperate). On the 9in, I would just need to find one with 31splines and keep the factory low gear diff for driving around town and build a HD unit with bigger gears for other fun I'll probably end up doing 4.11's and leave it. On 33's that will still have me at 60mph under 2000rpm.
