Default New plan...Whipple

I intend to move this forward as quick as I can.
So, I know the Radix is the rage and plug and play, but I've always wanted a Whipple so that's the way I'm gonna go.
Please critique this plan.

1..Blower, intake tube, brackets and belts.[without whipple fmu and extra injectors and wiring harness] I know from another member[rosscob] that whipple will sell this stuff for a reasonabe price without buying the whole kit. I can buy this new or pickup a used kit on ebay
2..43# injectors
3..Nelson tune for blower and existing mods

That's it, sounds simple enough.

Three things I'm not sure about and hope someone can answer.
1. My truck is 04 with electronic throttle , will this complicate things
2. will I need to improve the fuel pump
3. will the bypass circuit be an issue without the whipple electronics

I think the above should come in at about $4k and still give me the option of
fabing a i/c later as some others have done with the whipple, when I have the time.

're going that route -check out Kenne Bell. Their kit is more complete and better quality.

I was told the stock pump on the returnless fuel system would hold FI at lower boost levels. I am going to try it at 9 psi, andd see how much of a drop I see at the high rpm's. If it doesnt hold I will add an in-line pump.

1. No.
2. If you run more than 6psi. or if you run a big cam on your 5.3L and you flow lots of air. Above 390hp you should look into an inline fuel pump (they are easiest to install)
3. Yes. you will need to do some rerouting of the vacuum lines going to the bypass. Here is what you need to do in the picture. Make sure you tune for fuel when you aren't running the whipple electronics and aux. injectors. (Nelson should take care of that though)

Ah, Thank you Ryan.
I wasn't sure if the bypass was electronic or vacuum controlled.
So no big deal to run the blower with no whipple electronics
Now I gotta find some parts.

If you are going to order the supercharger from whipple just order it with the old style mechanical vacuum. Then there are no electronics to worry about disconnecting, and you still have a functional bypass valve.

I think all the mechanical bypass are on the two belt supercharger setups. I think the single belt is cleaner (my opinion) and there is less possibility for belt slip because of the larger pulleys the single belt uses to turn the same compressor rpms. (diff. internal gearing)

Sorry for the confusion, but I was suggesting the new single belt set up with the mechanical bypass installed. I was told by the whipple techs that they coule be ordered that way.

Do the new ones have different internalts besides the gearing? Seems like it would take a certain amount of force on the wheel to produce the same amount of pressure, not matter what the internal gearing is.

Seem like the largest difference between the two setups would be that the single belt system runs off of the larger factor drive pulley.

Hey man if I were you I would get the single belt setup. There is less belt slip with the new internal gearing and you can order it with out the electronics and with mech. bypass because I did. If you are using the 5.3 you should be able to get about 12 psi with a 3.5" pulley. If you wanted more boost you could call up ASP pulleys they just made me a 3" pulley and that should get you close to 15 psi. Hope this helped
