Default new personal best, but.....

Well, I changed a few things in the 'ol combo and intended to go to Memphis tonight and bring home a 10 second slip. Instead I was plagued with problems all day including a flat tire, a failed N20 solenoid, a stopped up toilet, etc etc. I was running behind schedule and not feeling very good anyways so I just decided to go to the local track (1/8th mile)

My first pass was on the motor and I didn't get a time-the track was having difficulties with the computer So I waited a while until I was sure the clocks were working and I decided to make a nitrous pass. It launched decent and cut a 1.71 sixty. At around 400 ft it lost power and nosed over and made a combination sound of KA NOCK KA NOCK KA NOCK and WAHHHHHHHHHH !!!!! I coasted through the lights with a 7.17 at 97 mph. Woulda maybe been my goal of 6.9x if it had ran the rest of the way. I figure the MPH woulda been around 100.

I am pretty sure it kicked a couple rods, but won't be sure til tomorrow maybe Oh well, gives me a reason to put the "built" motor back in with my ported heads.

Riley, yeah I was looking forward to you getting a couple good pics for me, oh well I'm down but not out !!

Parish, the "built" motor is a .030 over 6 liter with custom Diamond blower pistons and h beam rods. It is balanced and has ARP bolts, etc. I have a set of 317 heads that I ported myself to go on it. The shortblock is on the stand, pretty much ready to go, but I am super busy from now through June so I don't know when I am going to find time to work on it, but you guys all know how it is......you tend to make time when you have to.

I am leaving right now to go unload it from the trailer and take a quick look under to see if there are any holes in the side of the block, I will post up when I determine what actually happened.

The theory is this: It blew a head gasket and filled a cylinder or two with the green stuff, which hydraulic'd the motor and did major internal carnage. I didn't take it apart yet, but I tried turning it over with a ratchet and it will only turn less than 90 degrees lock to lock. It makes some serious crunching noises while turning the crank.

Well sounds like you just needed an excuse to put the other motor in anyways. Probably a good thing you didn't make it down here though, woulda been a longer drive home on a trailor. Oh and I forgot my camera anyways.
