New Mufflers....Please Read Guys!!
Hey guys,
After having the crappy Meineke brand mufflers installed for a month or so, I deciced to go back to the Flowmaster 40 Series. My truck has been true dualed for years, with 40 series Flows, and I changed to the Meineke "turbo" mufflers about a month ago and didn't like it. Today I had them replaced with a couple of part #42443 Flows, which I am pretty sure is what I had on my truck for years, but it sounds so much better now!!!!. It's louder, more aggressive sounding, and has a much nicer rumble at idle. What gives?. The only other thing I did was, I had them change out my chrome tips, which were rusted somewhat, to a set of longer ones and weld them completely around whereas before they were only partially welded....supposedly to let the condensation drip out to keep them from rusting. What do you guys think?. What made a difference?. Were my original Flows worn out after 5+ years or what.....? I am at a loss, and would like some opinions.
Thanks guys

those longer tips would surely have something to do with it. iam assuming they were longer and most likely 1/4 of an inch wider. this can create a louder exhaust note via echoing.

just looking at them they are like 18" or so it seems like.......versus 12" or so that I had before, but they are definitely a good bit longer....any other comments?.......
