Default I think pacesetters are better

Ive been doin some reading and the pacesetters are made better than the hookers w/ thicker flanges and thicker tubing.

The Hooker longtubes for the 99+ trucks are listed as having 18 gauge tubing while the Competion series longtubes for the 88-98 OBS trucks are nade with 16 gauge tubing.

Both styles have 5/16" header flanges.

I have owned both sets of headers and as far as I can tell the quality is very similar, The reason I switched from Pacesetters to Hookers is the way the Y-pipe connects to the LT headers. The Pacesetters use a slip fit design which is fine until it needs to be disconnected, I had to cut the y-pipe off when I installed my torque converter. Another reaason why I dont like the y-pipe is because the 3" pipe is smashed so it will clear the transmission pan which kind of defeats the purpose of a 3" y-pipe IMO. The Hookers have a 3 bolt flange already welded on both ends so it can easily be disconnected if transmission work is needed & the y-pipe is truly a 3" y-pipe. Hooker also offers 1 5/8" primaries or 1 3/4" primaries to fit your needs, I got the 1 3/4" since I will have a Supercharger. Dont get me wrong, I was pleased with the Pacesetter LT's but the Y-pipe leaves alot to be desired (IT SUCKS!). I got a great deal on the Hooker LT's & Y-pipe from Tbyrne. Give him a call and he will hook you up. Sorry for the long post but I had to get that off of my chest. Good Luck with your decision.

I looked at both at work. The Hookers I saw looked like utter ****. Not saying Pace is the best but come on. On the slip fit issue you talked about. You dont have to weld it all up. There are many many choices for flanges and such so you can avoid that type of thing.
