I can get ahold of the 214s and work them and put them on whenever, I cant pull the 317's work them and put them on with out down time. The 243's are out of the question Im not spending the money on them when I have teh 241's. That wasnt an option, the option is keeping stock 317's, mildly p&p and shave the 5.3's or shave gasket match, mildly P&P the 214's no options on the 417's except keeping them stock and leaving the engine how it is.

My question is are the STOCk 317's gonna be better than mildly worked 241's.

I still think the 5.3 heads will be a waste of time, I don't think the amount of compression you will gain will justify the amount of flow that you will lose.

Thats why Im thinking the 241's. I do know of some good flowing 5.3 heads but they arent exactly hand ported and polished. Im thinking with the 241's I wont loose too much flow, and Ill bump the compression up a hair, so I was thinking that may be the best route, just asking others opinions.
