New H2 Drag numbers
#12
Being an automatic running 14's you still have time to do lots of stuff on the way down track... like make a list of the mods you want to get faster, reach up and close the sunroof shade that slid halfway open during the launch, crack open a beer...
Okay.. okay... maybe not the last part but it sure seems slow sometimes

We've noted all along on this particular truck that running richer is better for timing. I'm able to maintain 18 degrees for most of the drag strip run right now. It runs into uncontrolled timing issues as it gets leaner/hotter. I could only run 17 degrees with the cats in. I'm thinking now that I could run 19 degrees for the pull through first gear if I really wanted to. This timing/knock issue might be due to the fact that the H2 engine bay is a sealed oven and gets very hot. It is made to ford some fairly deep water. The regular trucks have better airflow into the engine bay and generally keep heat down better. More fuel is more cool on this H2.
Since I'm talking about fuel, here's a bit of an anomaly...
We've also noted that it is possible to introduce number combinations in the PE fueling table that will completely whack the tune in that mode. Imagine logging runs of 11.5 to AFR and deciding to take 1% fuel away and then going for the run... as you lay open the throttle it gains a few hundred RPM and then suddenly noses over and shuts the throttle (electronic throttle) and says 10 to 1 on the Wideband. WTF just happened? Certain number combinations just don't work because we've experienced this twice at completely different stages in the trucks development.

Actually, when we tuned it I set the PE for 11.5 to 11.9 to 1 (wideband). 11.5 up to 5k rpm then right in the 11.9 to 1 from there up. Any leaner in the mid range and we still get some crazy knock retard (real). But, up past what I consider the TQ peak we can give it more. Sense we have not wide banded after adding a few degrees more timing up stairs it might be in the 12.1 to 12.2 area right now! The damn under hood heat definitely takes it's toll though! The cam change we did, also gave us the ability to get up from 11.0 AFR in the mid range area to the 11.5 we can run now, Not bad considering the cam also gave Cory 2 tenths and 2 mph. Atleast, 40 flywheel hp on these heavy 35 inch tall tire, 100lb each set up.
So basically the cam, cat delete mod and modified air intake took us from 92.5 mph to 97 (80 flywheel for regular 2 wheel drive vehicle, probably 100HP+ with this thing), very good results.

Nope, Cory could be so lucky...He went to IRAQ to pay for it...that's one hell of a commitment for a vehicle
=
paw have you ran that at the track yet...lools like a pretty good combo...
