Default New guy here with some ?'s

Well as you can see, I'm new here. I have an 07 NBS silverado, 5.3 ext. cab 4x4. I want to get a custom tune. I've heard of Nelson, Wheatley and Blackbear. I would be willing to travel to VA to black bear to meet them in person, but is it worth it. Any programmer better than the other? I just want to get rid of the electronic limitations, and make it run better. What about changing to a vette servo in the tranny? Does this beef up the tranny. My brother-in-law has a tranny business, and he could do the job easily enough if you think it's a good idea. Thanks in advance, Jim.

All the ones you have listed are respectable tuners. The one you can deal with in person to have a live tune done will probably give you the best results. As far as the tranny goes it could probably use some beefing up. Vet servo is a good start to reduce shift slippage. Especially if you want to have torque management removed from the tune to free up some power.

If you can get a live tune done then do so. Also the vette servo will help but you should have a trans go hd2 shift kit put in as well IMO.
maybe even a bigger tranny cooler as well fr safety.

I have to agree, a personal tune is the way to go. I also agree with the servo and get that installed first before the tune.

The way Justin at Blackbear does his is the closest you can get to "real person." You actualy record your trucks driving habits as you drive 20 minutes or so the he tunes off that. I can't wait til I get mine back from him next week

Had Wheatley do a street tune, night and day difference over my previous "mail order' tune by wait4me. Vette servo is definitely a good investment and you can pick one up off ebay for cheap and install it in about an hour.
