Default New GMC Owner

I just bought a 1999 NBS GMC Ex Cab 4x4 last week and I am wondering where to start for mods and improvements for it? Anyone have any suggestions and ideas?
Thanks

Andy

Figure out a budget... What you ultimately want out of the truck and we can advise...

We have recipes for 15s down to the 10s....

Welcome

Well i know alot of you guys are going lower with yours but I am thinking going up with mine hence the 4wd. I dont want it to get crazy with lift but just enough to set it apart, possible 3 inch body and maybe a 2 inch suspaension with 315/75R16 tires. As for performance, I am wide open. I am pretty handy with computers but when it comes to hooking up one to a vehicle I am green there. I am VERY willing to learn about how it works though. I am looking now for a aftermarket exhaust to open it up alittle and give it a "good" sound. Also another question, i know the truck motors and LS1 motors are similiar but just "how" similiar are they? Thanks for the kind welcome here, I have been a regular over at chevelles.com and they are a great bunch of guys as well and it seems like I have found another good site here.
Thanks,
Andy

ILLNALI,

That is just the look I like...for now..lol. What is involved with the body lift? I have put body lifts on older 73-87 model trucks and its no biggie but in seeing the price of the new body lift kits for the 99-04 trucks, and talking with some friends they say its really involved to do. Am I correct or will it be just as easy as previous years?
Also did you have any clearance issues with the 16x10 wheels and the 33"?
Thanks again for helping out a new guy,
Andy

Andy,
Its not hard at all, you just jack up the body off the frame, add the spacers, then tighten it back up. You remove the front & rear bumpers, attach the extension brackets and you're done. Only clearance issues I ran into was with the front. They'd rub the inner fender sometimes and I had to trim down the front bottom foglight valance.

Thanks for the heads up on the body lift. Did you crank your torsion bars at all? Also did you do any performance mods to the truck?
