Hey guys, nice sight here. I have a new Silverado and I'd like to do some stuff to it. Is anything available or are there things I can do to hop it up a little? Thanks

Welcome to the site!

That motor in your truck is based on the exact same platform as our Z28/TransAm/Formula/Corvette LS1 motors, except it has an iron block instead of the aluminum ones we have. Also, the aluminum heads on your 6.0L truck are VERY similar to the heads found on the LS6 Z06 Corvette! There is a TON of potential inside your motor.

Recommendations? Get yourself a Hypertech programmer (not sure if its available yet for '02 Truck) so that you can raise your shift points, then start working on the intake and exhaust for that motor. Then, if you really want to get a kick in the pants, install a nitrous setup on that sucker!

I'm still wondering when a truck guy is gonna go all-out and install a 422ci LS1 under the hood. That would be soooo kick ***.

Tony

Thanks for the info and welcome. I've emailed T. Byrne and he will let me know when stuff starts coming available for my truck. Should I go with the Z06 camshaft or should I get an aftermarket cam? I still want to tow the Z28 around once in awhile.

PS- I will be at MTI gettin' a 422 done in the future, though it will be awhile.

Welcome , I've only been here a while, but this really is a good place to get tech info and not a lot of B.S. like some other truck forums. And as for you Tony [quote] I'm still wondering when a truck guy is gonna go all-out and install a 422ci LS1 under the hood. That would be soooo kick ***.

Let me check my warranty info, then we can go blow the engine, go to MTI and get that 422. Or maybe someone will sponser me, You think??? I'll settle for the 383
Truckin' check my site for some of the mods I have done. Latest in the NOS, no pics yet. I have some headers on order, but I don't want to get into that again

I believe ARE has built a couple big cube motors for trucks. Rumor has it that they are running Whipples on them too.
