Default New cam install and drive

If i installed the tr 224 112 cam and springs, would i be able to drive 2 or 3 hrs to baton rouge louisiana to get a futral dyno tune, or will i have to mail order a nelson tune and not drive it?
Thanks,
Derek

I'm not sure about the 224, but I plan to drive to San Antonio(about 1.5 hours) after I do my tr220 cam swap. I heard its not terribly bad, you just need to use two feet to keep your truck from stalling at stop lights. It should be the same with the tr224

I drove an hour to get mine tuned you just have to 2-foot it, and also be carful when you're coasting it will stall even if you're going 25. kinda scary when it stalls and you lose power steering.

I would not do this. You will have to two foot it every stop sign/light. I had to two foot mine around town until I received my tune. Sometimes when I took a turn it would cut off on me losing all powersteering in a turn, Not good. DO not do this.

I was 2 footing it for my cam and but you can use the idler screw to idle a bit higher if need to. Allen was telling me this as a just in case kinda thing. I never had to though and it was a 216/224 .558/.558 114lsa.

I had to two foot it on my cam some anyway after a mail order tune from Allen but I told him to keep the idle low cause I wanted it to sound mean so it was my fault. Nelson already ahs a alot of 4.8 tr224 tunes on file so he can probably hit it right on the head the first time. Losing power steering through a turn sucks *** and these trucks arent that easy to turn without it especially when you arent expecting it thats the main shitty thing. If it is all interestate for the most part you can probably pull it off. I ahve ehard of a few problems with allens tunes here lately so I dont know. If it was me I would get Allen to tune it he is the man IMO and thats why he is tuning my 418 no one else would be allowed to ttouch it.

yeah, you can two foot it. I two footed mine for a three hour drive to allens shop. And my cam is only a 210/218. Best part is when they see u spending there is a good excuse, Tell them ur truck wont stay on if u dont stay on it. I said it three times and the three times i was pulled over the truck would die right in front of the peace officers. LOL it was great. I need to get me a camera for recording there expressions.

Youll be fine. Allans shop is right off the interstate, so when you get off, you only have to make one turn. I was running my 6l with a similar cam on my stock tune for a few days. It wasnt fun, but besides it dying all the time, it wasnt a problem. Once youre going its OK. BTW Futralls tune is pretty badass from what Ive seen.
