Default NEW 03' Z71 HELP

I just picked up a new 03'Z71 ECSB w/5.3 I was hoping to get some tips on some free mods and other cheap upgrades for some power.

I was thinking
-cold air kit..K&N FIPK?
-catback..SPINTECH
-port TB
-TB bypass
...anything else besides a cam or convertor,i don't want to go to far right now. I have to get caught up since i just bought it Sat. I only have 50 miles on it now

any tips would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

Larry

Sweet truck.

-ASP pulley
-UPD cold air intake http://www.ultimatepd.com/
-ported TB
-Electric fans
-I've got a Magnaflow catback that is nice and not very exspensive for stainless Powerwise I don't know if a catback is worth much though.
-EGR tube cut(do the 03's have EGR??)
-Descreen MAF(Results vary)
-HPP3 or other tuning to raise shift points.(nice gain)
-lower temp thermo

I'm sure there are some more that I'm forgetting.

thanks for the info

I just ordered a Mac catback and air intake. I will dyno the truck tonight stock (60 miles)and post the results. I will do the same once i install the exhaust and the cold air. I did Mac since we are a dealer and we most likely get into modding the truck since we have one to play with.

any other suggestions would be appreciated

we will probally buy the truck software to tune with as well

Cool deal Larry, now we have two dyno whor....uh, people in here.

Let us know what the catback picks up over stock. I don't know if I've ever saw a dyno of just a catback on these trucks.

You might want to rig up some sort of ram air deal as a cheap mod. Just cut a hole in the bottom of the airbox and run some tubing down to the fog light area. Alot of people have custom setups like this.

Definately get those shift points raised. It makes a WORLD of difference.

John i will try to not get to anxious and do it part by part :p

I did dyno it tonight but it would shut down at 95ish mph and 4000 rpm, does it have a factory speed limiter I did it 3 times, but on the road it pulls past 100 mph

(68 easy miles)
206rwhp
279 rwtq

I think i will get a Diablo and just bump the limiter and re-dyno stock this week and see what happens.

Diablo is on the way, hope to have it by Friday to re-dyno and see what i can really get out of it.

does it have a speed limiter, because it did seam to shut down in 3rd at about 95ish mph and 4000rpm?

I plan to do the exhaust first as it seams no one has that number alone and then go from there.

I found a set of 1.85 rockers here at the shop that i will be putting on as well with some LS6 springs.

This sucks, now i have to things to mod,man i am gonna go broke

Oh yeah, the 65-70mph kickdown is a sweet spot, especially with raised shift points and limiter.

I forgot to answer your other question. Yes, the stock speed limiter is set at 98mph. It's fun with a raised one when you race a stock truck. They're like WTF when you slingshot past them as they shutoff.
