Default Nelson Tune.....Factory Warranty???

I just got a 2004 CC Z71 and I am interested in adding some power to it. Will getting a Nelson tune void the warranty? The service dept at a dealer I was shopping at told me that any change to the pcm or replacement of the pcm would automatically void the warranty? Does anyone have experience with this? Would the dealer be able to tell that I got a tune?

What if I kept my core and put it back if I ever needed to take it back in for warranty work? Is that possible? Can the dealer even tell that I replaced the pcm?

The guy at the dealer also told me if I put in a cold shot or some type of air intake system that it could possibly void the warranty as well.

I asked him about exhaust changes and he said that any changes to a corsa exhaust would cause them not to warranty any rattles or things of that nature if they needed to be repaired.

Anybody have experience with any of these issues?

Thanks

aqccording to the law, they dont have to warrenty any part replaced but they still have to warrenty on everthing else unless the cause is do to the new part, ie trans get smoked but ur running a 10psi turbo.

What the dealer dosen't know, wont hurt 'em.

Will it void warranty? Probably so. Will they ever know it was done? Probably Not.

Basically, yes you will still have warranty.

Well with mild stuff like... a catback, air intake, etc. I don't see you getting denied warranty due to that. I've gone there a few times for stuff w/ fans, FIPK, catback, and my tune w/o a hitch.

My vote also is find a new dealer.

if you read your warranty the exhaust from the cat back isnt really covered.they do not have the experience nor the ability to trace a tune in the truck. if you are being denied warranty because of an exhaust then yes find another dealer.

So you guys don't think they could detect a Nelson tune? I honestly have no idea if they can or not. Does anyone with a Nelson tune have experience taking their truck in for warranty.

they will not be able to tell the difference unless someone knows exactly what their looking at when they hook up your computer. trust me the guys that they have doing this really don't care and most of them couldn't tell the difference anyway. they don't usually mess with the tables and charts that you would need to see the different tune. I also don't think they could prove it either.

Just dont write on your nelson's pcm with a sharpie "custom tune"
I agree with above - find another dealer
typically a dealer that sells a good number of Vettes and F bodies is used to Mods
