what exactly does activating pin 42 mean? is a tune required to activated it or does this mean that you physically have to install a pin?

You have to put a PCM pin wired to the harness into the PCM harness. It's not hard to do it. Also you do have to tune for the efans.

but the Nelson or Blackbear harness comes with everything you need right? so once a person buys that and installs it, all they need is a tune right?

before you stick the pin in the PCM harness, take a needle and stick it down in the pin hole. There is a rubber stopper in there from the factory. I didn't realize that on my first attempt, the pin meet insurmountable resistance and I snapped it right off! Luckily for me, when I bought a spare PCM from the yard it came with the end of the harness, so I have about 100 extra pins lol

I had this same prob with the relays melting once and was concerned that the wire guage might be too light. I spoke with them and they reassured me that the prob must lie elsewhere...I changed the relays and found I had a loose connection somewhere else that was the actual cause...no probs since, but still wonder about the guage as I get voltage drop whenever the fans engage despite having gone 145amp and "Big 3" wire upgrade...
