Question Need some track times.

I just bought a 2007 silvrado with a 4.8 in it . It is a regular cab short bed . Does any one know what this will run in stock form. I thought the 4.8 was a dog but this truck feels like it pulls pretty hard.

the new 4.8 is rated at 295 horse, where i think the old was around 275ish?

the main difference i can see over my brothers 2004 is the electric fans, which would technically free up around 10-15 crank horsepower....which is where they rate them at. other than that....i dont know? i think the heads have a different casting number as well, but i dont know the difference on the internals of the heads/valvetrain.

they are a bit stronger though, but......what does the new body style weigh compared to the old?? who knows?

Have you ran your truck at the track? What were the times?

yes i have.
bone stock with 20's... 3.23 gears, single wheel traction 10.50 in the 1/8th
after TC and tune, and CAI......same 20's.....same rear... 9.38 in the 1/8th
i have a 212/218 cam going in saturday, then back to the track. i am gonna pull the spare and the tailgate, and i bet you money i will run a high 8.

i like to run every time i add something, just to make sure i am going in the right direction.

Let me know how it does. I'll try to take mine to the track sunday. I just bought mine last Thurs. W/ 94 miles on it. Today I put a K&N CAI and 2 inch drop shakles in the rear to level the truck out. I also put a tonneu cover on it. The truck came with the 20's that came on the Tahoe's.

i will man.

i say i should hit 8.8x-8.9x with no problems, if the truck hooks. the TC and tune really created traction issues.....as it now flashes to 2600 on the footbrake. when i remove the spare/tailgate....it will surely be worse, especially with the cam and greater torque output.

and i put on the s & b CAI, so i could later hide a dry nitrous setup in the airbox. i am tryin not to void the warranty if i can.

I forgot , I have a nitrous works wet kit for mine when I get a few more miles on the truck first. I'll try to post some pics of my truck tomorrow.
