Need some ideas
#1
After running my truck at the track the other night I have the bug BAD.
Trying to get some ideas on what to do first. Nelson tune is on the list and have about 1000 to spend after that. Would really like to change the cam but only have 17000 mile on it and would like to keep the warranty for now anyways.
Thanks for any ideas.

My suggestions would be: Nelson Tune, K&N cold-air intake, cat-back exhaust, headers, and a huge tranny cooler.
A good cold-air intake will be about $200-$300, exhaust $120-$300, headers $300-$800, and tranny cooler $100-$150. None of these will void the warranty; they're 50 state legal.

Especially on the converter. I think the Yank TT3000 is the single best mod (besides forced induction of some sort) that you can do to these trucks.

From What I know,
1st, Save your $$ and just install a K&N. The after market cool air systems only yield 1 MAYBE 2 HP without a forced air system. ( Before they start in on me, I've seen the dyno results). And Ram air is only effective at speeds of 100+ mph. Be sure and let the new K&N drip over a night or 2 on some news paper or a paper bag to remove any over oiling. Then after 100 miles or so clean your MAF elements to make sure no oil is on them.
2nd, the exhaust. It's all about your wallet here. Too much flow will kill low end and MPG but necessary with a forced air system.
3rd Transmission work.
4th A Cam.
As for the Nelson in the Mix. You can get it first and have him tweak it as you add mods or wait until the last mod, or in any order you like. But doing transmission work with servo's or shift kits will need to be coordinated with the Nelson tune.
Good Luck!
