Default Need some help!!!! Wiring issue!!!!

I just swapped harnesses last night. The harness that I had was out of an 02 5.3, the one I replaced it with was the right one out of an 05 5.3. Everything is perfectly fine except for the alternator. The alternator that I have has needs 3 wires and the new one only has 2. The one on the top is the one that my old harness had, the other is the one on the new harness. Does anyone know if the alternators are the same on the 05 5.3's and the 02 5.3's. If not, what can I do. I really don't like splicing in to wires but I also can't spend another $150. Please help!!!

I believe that the alternators changed in 03 from a conventional alternator to an alternator that is duty cycled by the PCM. You might be able to get it to work but may have a battery light in the DIC...I'm not 100% sure on this though...

(now that I think about it, the change may have been 01 or 02...can't remember...)

Simplest thing would be to swap to the correct 05 alternator.

Does anyone know if it will just bolt right up to that bracket?

Not sure if this helps, but I bolted an 03 145amp alt to my 99 bracket that originally had a 105amp alt...
