Default need some help on what to use with the ls7

i just need these 2 questions answered ASAP.. PLEASE

i'm going to be droppin an ls7 in my truck.. its a 2000 silverado.. i was looking into just doin a cam, tune, stall and intake, headers and exhaust as far as the mods go.. now my questions are

i was looking at the FLT transmissions.. do i need a built 4l60e, 4l65e, or 4l80e? there is 3 different levels on each so i dont know which to go with?

i was planning on getting a moser 12 bolt rear end.. will this hole up fine? what gearing should i go with? the truck is going to have some 22x12's in the rear for shows and 20x12's in the rear for when i take it to the track..

help ASAP please.. i'm ready to get things ordered

i'm fairly new to the performance side of GM trucks, but i know a thing or two about LS1s... with that said, i don't think the 4L60 or 65 will even be close to being strong enough for a 505 hp LS7, the 80 is the strongest of your options. maybe someone else can chime in with a stronger option.

a moser 12 bolt should hold up pretty well, thats what i've got in my TA. my guess is that with that tall of a tire (wheel) you might need a 4.10 gear or maybe a 4.33

Chuck @ FLT says that he can build a 65E to handle somewhere around the 500 rwhp range, which would be right at the borderline of what that motor will put out. Might want to consider the 4L80E. A stock 80E with a shift kit should be able to handle that LS7 just fine.

moser 12 bolt should hold up pretty good. as for the tranny, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a beefed up tranny while you're at it if you're going to add some serious hp down the road...
btw, can you order me an LS7 too?

Level 5 4L65E? That won't give you much room to play IMO. Call Chuck and he can tell you for sure, but if it were me I would go with an 80E. Like I said, you don't need much work put into the 80E to make it handle that. Parish ran an 80E with just a shift kit well into the 700hp range and it was fine.

If you piece it together right you will pay about the same for a level 5 4L65E as you would for a lightly-modded 4L80E with the conversion kit.

PM me if you want a good reference for the guy who built mine and a few other member's trannies. He's a good guy and priced very well.

That's overkill actually....a very mildly built 80E should handle that LS7 no poblem. Actually a stock one would probably be ok, but as I said, a shift kit would be a good investment. Unless you plan on making 700+ rwhp I wouldn't worry about getting anything crazy.

a stock 80E would be great but as said, with a LS7 your gonna want the crisp shifts.

so go with a shift kit.

trust me i work for GM...
