Default need some direction here... 07 NNBS

Hey fellas,

Ive been a member on here for a while, i dont post much, but i read ALOT.
Im also a mod on another gm truck forum.
And ive owned three seperate chevy truck "platforms" that ive modded.

Just getting rid of the "new guy retarded answer" cliche, lol

I am gonna explain what i have, regardless of my sig, cuz i forgot if i updated it or not

I have an 07 NNBS CC 2wd 5.3 non-flex fuel silverado. 4L60 of course, It has the stock 20's and a g80 rear end with 3.42 gears

So far, i have put a K&N CAI kit on, not because i thought it gained alot, but for the fact the stock intake was hideous. I like a clean look in my engine bay. And ive had one on each of my trucks, its just a mod i always do.

I installed pacesetter lt's, and i went back with aftermarket cats from dynomax, not because i wanted to, i just hated having to sweat at inspection time, and for the simple fact I CANT WELD, and no exhaust shop in my area, or surrounding are, will do **** to a car/truck without cats.

The setup is true dual, into a "vx" muffler, not sure wtf brand that is, but its interior is "X" designed kind of like an x pipe. and out the back in tips.

i hate to admit it, but i dont know the piping size, i think its 2 1/2?? ill have to check on that, i feel embarrassed not knowing that. possibly 2 1/4.

But i am starting to now hate the look of tips. anyways...

When i did the header install, i went ahead and threw in some ngk plugs, dont really know why, just did!

And Wheatley did a live tune on her, a couple times! We had some issues with the new pcm wanting to lose all throttle at first, but hes got it running strong now.

I am in need of some direction here....

i know, for a fact, that i cant afford FI, just cant do it, cant forsee that in this trucks future... maybe a project truck WAY LATER down the road, but not this truck. I dont have 5 grand to throw out like that.

My Goal, is to have a truck, that sounds mean, can whoop the occassional dumb *** on the road, and smoke some tires on demand. basically when i mash my throttle, i want to smile everytime.

I almost ordered some UD pulleys tonight, but then i smoked myself away from it, and decided to hold off on that for now, and get some guidance.

I really think the 3.42's are hurting this CC off the line, its a dog from a dig. im also concerned i made a bad decision in my exhaust choice. And the slow throttle body blade issue these trucks have, ive been waiting to read a fix someone might have found for the TAC module, i have yet to read that.

A cam sounds great but since im no cam expert, i was trying to find another nnbs user with some "in truck" experience with different cams. I would have to have LOPE and CHOP. But then again, i want it to improve my performance, not hurt it.

any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated fellas, sorry for the long winded discussion, i just wasnt trying to leave anything out,

Jared

Swap out the gears to 4.10's for starters and while you're in there get the G80 out and put in a good lsd like a trutrac.

That alone will make a big difference. One thing at a time/

yah, i have to peicemeal my mods, one at a time.

but do you know how many people have said 3.73's and not 4.10's, people who told me from "experience" said that 3.73's was a good median. Whats your opinion?

If I was to do it again I'd definitely go 4.10...I went from 3.42 to 3.73 and am happy but the 4.10's would rock. 3.73's are a good median but are only about a 10% difference from the 3.42's. It also depends on tire size, with larger diameter wheels and tires the 4.10's are going to help get you off the line better.

If all you driving is highway than I might say 3.73 but for mixed and in town the 4.10's may even improve your milage.

I have the factory 3.73s but I think I will be going with 4.10s when the g80 lets go. If your exhaust is true duals even 2 1/4 should be O.K. My 300c has 2 1/4 true duals and thats good from the factory and its rated slightly higher on power, I think.

i might acctually go with some 4.10's, im wondering if i should wait for the g80 to crap out before i go with a tru-trac.

i have been searching for a How-to on throttle body porting for the DBW, i havent messed with porting and polishing before, but i have a dremel, i would just rather have some pictures to see what people are talking about when they do the port n polish.

what about some UD pulleys, yall think i will be happy with them since i already have intake, exhaust, and tune??

u know, i read alot of bad stuff about the g80, but dont the HD rigs use the same unit? We have alot of hot shot drivers out here for the oilfield carrying HEAVY loads with their 3500's, and i never hear of them crapping out.

And it seems alot of the damage that comes with the g80 is from spinning around corners, wich i dont do. Its not designed for that use anyways.

i will probobaly still get the tru-trac, im just curious about the reality of the strength with the g80
