Default need some 6.0 help

hi guys, i would like to research more, but im kind of on a time crunch, hope you dont hate me if this stuff is easy to find

4.8 in my truck is almost dead, called my local yard today and put down a deposit over phone.

04 lq4, intake to pan, 71k miles, for 975.

just need to know any quick easy ways to verify im getting a lq4. i know iron heads are a dead giveaway, are, 6.0 blocks stamped?

anything else i need to drop this sucker in my 4.8/4l60e 2wd rcsb? im doing long tubes as soon as they come back in stock, tune is obvious, and im getting the trans built while the truck is apart.

the truck does a lot of race car towing/quad hauling, but is also used for fun.

It will say 6.0L on the back of the block in the bell housing area and have 317 casting heads. Look on the lower right front corner of the head for the 317 number

Call someone like texas speed tell them exactly what you are using the truck for all mods done axle ratio etc and get them to custom grind a bumpstick to fit your needs.

2000 IS THE ONLY 6.0 W iron heads and the crank is funky for that year only too. You want a 01 up engine.

I didn't say that clearly. Any way to verify its an 04? It's just gonna be an engine sitting on a pallet.

This is somewhat debateable on whether it actually works or not, but the engines are supposed to have the last 8 digits of the originating vehicles VIN on the block. It's on a machined flat pad on the drivers side rear of the block just below the head. It's stamped in a dot matrix. That said, I either can't decipher mine properly or the number is wrong because my engine shows up as a 4.8 out of a special order Tahoe from 2005.

Thing is, it's actually an LQ9 out of a 2005 Escalade. Pretty hard to miss the big 6.0L cast on the block, 317 heads and flat top pistons.

It is there though and you can try and have someone run the numbers for you.
