For me I use the 6200RPM redline, +4 on the 1-2 shift, +12 on the 2-3 shift, and -+ 0 on the 3-4 shift. Try it out and see what works best, It might be different due to your gears/lift/tires or something?

The way I see it, if you've dynoed and are making more power at 6200 than at the rpm level after the shift, that's good...even if you're cam has started falling off.
I think with the HPP3 though, you can only move the shifts to about 6000 with a redline at 6200. On my 02, I shift at 6200 with a redline at 6500 with no ill effects so far. With all my experimenting on my 01 with the HPP3, the longer I could hold the gear, the faster my ET was.

Maybe they didnt put a stock converter when they did the rebuild on my tranny. They did have to replace it and every part. Like you said every truck is different. Mine climbed to 125 faster on the dyno with the shift points lower

With the 2-3 shift at +12, you will need to set the rev limiter at 6200 from my experiance. If you have it programmed for you tires, the rest of the settings should adjust accordingly.

I'm not sure what the dyno says, or the flow numbers say, but I messed with my HPPIII when I first got it, and the ET's picked up the higher I set the rev limiter/shift points.
I'm not doubting that the cam is falling on it's face that high up, but with a stock converter, your RPM drops so far down that you're making more power at a high RPM in first(taking into account the torque mulitplication of the tranny) than you are when the tranny shifts into 2nd at the lower RPM.
