Doing my ls1 swap tomorrow. Need to know what to look for? how to treat the motor after startup with new internals etc, anything people get snagged on?

Im doing ls1 swap
with stock 853 heads
new head gaskets and bolts
224/224 .561 .561 114 cam
918 springs and retainers
7.4 rods
ls2 chain
8.1 injectors
truck intake
3200 circle d stall
cam and all is in and motors together, gotta put the crank pulley back on and re seat the oil pan with some red rtv in the corners

I have 6 quarts of fully syn mobil 10w30 going in with a wix filter that i imagine il run for 1000 miles then change just to be safe.

No special break in if it's a used engine. Use the marker on the top of the head bolts so you can see how much your turning them in the last steps.

Well should go pretty smooth then. I used a bungie cord to hold the harness up towards the hood. Also I just put the hood in the service position, where it's strait up. You don't need to take the radiator out. Ac compressor bolts are a PITA. I can't think of anything else really.

Don't put the intake on till the motors in if you didn't know that.

The only problem I had was getting the bolts thru the new motor mounts. They were just a hair out of alignment and cost me an hour of screwing around. Pretty hard by yourself some times.

Well as you can see in the pic i found it easier to unbolt the mounts from the block instead of the mount from the frame mount.

Steering shaft and longtubes were in the way of the other bolts.
