Default Need Help w/ Tires

Whats up guys, havent been on in over a month and now its time for me to get some new tires. I was wondering what everyone likes or recommends for good street and rain. I want something that sticks really well but also pushes away water. I hate my 235/16/75 Goodyears and want to go with something alot wider maybe a 275-285 if possible on the 16 inch rim and keep the 75 profile. Tell me your opinions.

I have read alot and heard alot of responses and I plan on running the Hankook ventus
tires. If I was you I would look at them and look at Toyo proxes. they should make soemthing for what you want.

How would 285/70/16's fit on the stock wheels. I have the alloys, I wanna say 7.5 in? Would they bulge out too much you think?

a 7.5" rim is about the min width recommended to run a 285/70/16. i've been looking at 285/75r16 for mine so thats what i found out.

I love my Nitto 555's. They hook really good in the rain. Im also runnig 20's, but i dont think that makes that big of differance. 285's will look really nice on stock wheels. My friend has 285/75/16's on his Silverado and it looks good. He is also running Nitto 555's.

I think that I am going to either go with the Toyo Proxes S/T in a 275/70/16. Or a Yokohama AVS S/T in a 285/70/16. These are the only high performance truck tires that I can find in a size similar to stock height and in a 16 in wheel. I looked at Nitto 555's but they dont make a size for that would work with my wheels.

I like my Hankook's so far. I dunno how they will perform in the rain though.

I got the Firestone Fire hawk indy 500's in 265/70/16 and they are the best all around tire i have ever had. I had the 255 generals on her before and from 35 i could spin the tires and in rain .... not good in rain. When i got the firestones I nailed it from a dead stop and they barely chriped when before i would smoke them. Then the other day it was raining and I thought to my self no one is around lets test these babies out. I slam on the brakes no hydroplaining or nothing they stopped as if no water was even on the road. My friend was with me and was liek Damn i wonder if they make these tires in 35". I like the alot and reconmend them. they are cheap also. I pay about 87 a tire at theh local firestone dealer. he said 102 first then i told him i can get them from www.tirerack.com for 70 bucks and he cut the price down. Good luck on your search. If you would like to see them on my truck i have a few picture on the link in my sig.

Here is a link to them on tirerack http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ehawk+Indy+500

Went hydroplaning on the freeway last week due to low tread so I bought some new tires. I got me a set of those Yokohama AVS ES 100s of the 245/50/16 variety through Discount Tire Co. These are some really good tires for the money.

I have had the opportunity to work them out in both dry and wet conditions and I am impressed. They have great dry traction and handling characteristics in the turns. These Yokos require a lot more effort to break loose on wet pavement. Not that it’s impossible, but I’m not spinning them at every normal driving stop and go situation.

I think that these are the last 16’s I’m going to run on my Z, but when I switch to 17’s I will probably be getting a set of 275/40/17’s on 9.5” wheels. I figure that if 16’s are this good 17’s will be that much better.

It’s been a little while since you’ve posted that question, but here are my two cents. I hope it helps you out.

look into the kumho ecsta stx's. they are supsodly good hooking dry and wet pavement tires. i have went with 275/70/16 falken stz 04. to me they are too tall @ 31" vs the the stock 30". i like them but it takes some good burning to get them to hook at the track. once burned good they hook really really well. even with 4.10 gears. wet traction is ok. i would get the kumho's if i could do it over just to get a diff size that is shorter
