Hey guys..a good buddy of mine has an older chevrolet truck..it's a 90 model, 2wd, 350, auto tranny with overdrive..it goes in all the gears and even goes in reverse but won't do nothing in reverse..is the tranny gonna have to be rebuilt..if so, how much(average cost) and how much is people finding used ones for?..I don't know what tranny is in the truck so I'd appreciate that info too..appreciate any help

 

yea i smell a rebuild coming. i think reverse is the first one to go anyways.

 

it should have a 700r4 trans. you could probably pick one up at bone yard for around $300. the same thing happened to one of the guys i worked with. he blew out his reverse gear while off roading.

how does the rest of the gears in the trans work? you probably just have a broken reaction shell gear (common on 700r-4 and 4l60 trans) and that is not that expensive of a part to buy
