Need help with mod order (and Nelson tuning questions)

Default Need help with mod order (and Nelson tuning questions)

I know this sounds weird, but I can't think of a good order in which I should get my mods. I already have a CAI, getting an exhaust, but I'm not sure about the parts that need tuning (sorry, I really suck at explaining things ). I also plan to get a 160 stat, UD pulleys, a shift kit (with other tranny mods), TB spacer (and a TB bypass), Eaton limited slip, and a stall. The good thing is none of these need tuning, but the cam, and e-fans do. I will have to get a Nelson tune for these.

My other problem is since I most likely won't install the cam myself (I'm a noob), how can I drive my truck if I don't get a tune as soon as I drive out of the shop with the new cam? Will I have to bring the tune with me while the cam gets installed and put it in after?

the fans don't need tuning first off, there are a few ways around that. vsc (some complain that they crap out, i have had mine over 2 years and still going strong) or you can hook a manual toggle up and turn them on that way till you can afford to have a NELSON tune do the magic.

the stat, another thing that can be done by yourself. do a search on bb mod. i would rather save 60 bucks on doing it myself and save money rather than pay for a stat that works just as well as a diy stat.

stall stall stall. you have been here long enough. what is one of the top et getters. a stall.

rear end. get something in there soon. otherwise, you are gonna be a tire rotating fool. might get a job with nascar though.

tb spacer, save the money. place it towards the previous two.

when you get that done, think about pulleys(i love mine), then a cam and have a tune close by

if you don't go too big with the cam, you can do it without tuning. you might not get the full benefits from it, but as long as it isn't dieing all over the tarmac, you should be ok.

Hey 2000 SILVERADO,

Get all the mods that are worthwhile, get the cam in and give me a call, we can send you a tuned pcm that will work great, then when you get here, we can fine tune it on the dyno.
Like it was said, if the cam is small enough, you'll be fine driving the truck with no tune. If it does stall, crack the throttle body a bit, that will cure most of it. There's a small torx screw under the throttle stop, simply adjust it.

I would follow up the intake with a good flowing muffler on the stock exhaust and get some mandrel bends and have the exhaust shop do up a ypipe at the same time. Thats gonna net you around 20-30 rwhp for under 200 bucks.
Then headers next stall-shift kit After that UD pulleys and the stat I think 160 is too low but its personnal preference. next cam and heads. I would do the rear end last. Though the stock one sucks it does have its advantages it is more drivable than a true locker its not fun breaking both wheels loose on the highway especially if its wet. throw in the tune where ever you want

Well, that's the problem. I'm desperate to go fast (I'm not going to be getting any P/A anytime soon), so I was going to get something like 220/224 cam. I know the idle and drivebility would be crazy, but I don't drive much. And are you saying if I get a big cam like that, all I have to do is turn up the idle untill I make it to your shop so it won't stall?
