Default Need help with coolant temp sensor location

I am doing a 5.3L Carb swap into my 1998 GMC 1500. The factory gauges have been replaced by auto meter units. My water temp gauge is just a signal wire setup. I see the cylinder heads have water temp sensor and water temp switch output connectors. Can I just put a adapter into the drivers head or should I use the one on the pass side head? Also if someone had a couple adapter part numbers that would be great!! Thanks
