Was thinking going with pac 1218s with tool steel retainers and then a semi mild VVT cam for now and see how i like all the bolt ons then a couple years down the road change see if i want to change it up with a blower and a diff cam.

What do u think of the comp cam below for a NA application? This seems a tad milder than the TSP

-ported heads
Lt headers
Dual exhaust
(Maybe ported TB?)
First, don't waste your time porting the TB. The 88mm stock throttle body is good to 600+hp.

The comp specs with pac 1218s would be a good combination. It'll work very well with the ported rec heads. Nice overlap to reach into the upper rpm range, and provide a moderate lope @ idle if that's your thing. Should pull decent down low with in the VVT park position (not a stump puller, but strong), and still plenty up high with the VVT position properly tuned.

Ok deadly that sounds really promising. Im cool with sleeper sound too doesnt have to habe a ton of chop but im sure the tuner can tune it out a bit.

Last thing i figured id run by you. They dont give a bunch of info on this card and i cant seem to find more on it after hours of searching forums.
but was peeping this l99 cam from tsp.
Obviously the truck way heavier than a camaro so might not be more beneficial as the comp. Both are VVT tho. And the l99 stage 1.2 says dont need a converter but does that just mean for the camaro? Would that transfer over to a 1500 as well you think?

Unless it has at least 7.5* of advance ground in, the TSP will lose low end compared to the Comp. In a truck, you would definitely want a convertor, or it'll feel soft even with VVT parked at full advance; especially at part throttle with the additional overlap. It's also going to be harder on the valvetrain because you'll for sure need higher spring pressure, plus the additional lift. And to really use the TSP to it's advantage you'll be shifting it 6500rpm+. Not a concern if you don't put on a ton of miles, but something to think about if you want another 140000Kms+ out of it.

When you get it running with the Comp cam, please share the results with the group. I am very curious about the drivability of it for use as a truck.
