Need cats!!

With this as my crossover to free up sone space over the trans xmember.... The lighter colored pipes are my factory y pipe, the darker are a part of a ypipe i got couple days ago off a tahoe at a scrap yard.... Thinking it will accomplish two goals at once, crossover and a quick easy way to unbolt the pipe for trans removal etc!! Think the open area between the two y's is about same distance as the x in my camaro's exhaust

This is my plan for cats and my LTs.
Magnaflow 59956 high flow spun cats are 2.5" inlet/outlet and are 8" long. I'm going to cut them down 1.5" on each end, that will shorten them by 3" inches for a total length of 5" and give me the 3" inlet/outlet diameter needed for my 3" exit and exhaust.
Not the best pic but you can see how much will be removed to give me the 3" inlet/outlet

So they are 8" overall length??? My problem is that i need the 3" for the vbands, how are you attaching them to the crossover pipe?? I want to be able to unbolt the cat pipes or ypipe to be able to swap trans etc without having to cut it every time..... if i could find a 3"inlet to a 2.5 oulet cat that would be optimal... Like my exhaust right now and consodering the length of the pipes, 2.5 is fine, as far as i can tell!!! If i ever do what id really like to and have pipes exot in front of rear tires, i will go 3" at that point but for now i like the way its run just seriously thinking about either ordering a set of tailpipes (dynomax and i saw them somewhere else prebent, magnaflow or flowmasters website i think) or just sayin screw it and having another driver pipe bent passenger side pipe is damn near perfect, its driver side i have issues with, wouldnt even be opposed to dual same side exit!!!

Yes, they are 8" overall. After being cut down, they'll be 5" overall.
You should be able to get 3" V-bands for them.
Well, this is the beginning stage as I am just starting to put this on paper while I get my block prepped and built.
I will more than likely weld them on to the y-pipe and v-band to the header.
You could always do what I'm doing but only cut one side down to get you the 3" inlet and 2.5" outlet.

Unless im missing something the vbands need to have a flat surface to mate to, as i understand it one side would be extended slightlybthrough the band the other would be recessed into it the same distance, so the pipes are end to end inside the band!!!

I know, you'll have to inquire with them. That was the first image that popped up when I googled it.
Typically when they don't advertise the price, its going to be expensive.
I know Burns has some male/female v bands for about $85 a set. That's about as good as it gets in the exhaust world.
