Default need aftermarket head help with 4.8

best heads for little 4.8L?

Hey guys i need some help please. i have a 4.8L in my truck. i have LT headers, custom tune, CAI, throttle body on there now. i'm going to replace heads due to already purchasing a new cam and other problems. about a week ago my top end started knocking very badly. i don't know if it is bent pushrod, loose rocker, bent valve, etc... i already have the cam, roller rockers, and pushrods. i just want to go ahead and replace the heads for the knocking and performance reasons. can someone tell me what heads would work good i.e... 243's, ls6's, etc... i have no idea what the 4.8 has for compression ratio either. any help with head info, gasket sizes for higher compression, etc is very, very much appericiated.

The Problem with a Larger head like a 243 is that it is designed for a larger bore. It will lower your compression and you will lose power unless you mill them down. Then you will need special pushrods.

I Personally am looking at a set of WCCH Stage1 Hand ported heads for my own 5.3L . Also Texas Speed and Performance has some heads for the 4.8L/5.3L Check out this disscusion were having. Good luck.
