Need advice on valvetrain parts for new cam

Well, I am looking at the Comp 206/212 .515/.522 112.
I believe I can just get some ls6 springs and run it.
My question is, will 918s with ti retainers and hardened pushrods be of any benefit to me at this point.
I am pretty sure the pushrods should be done.
But, I'm having trouble on the spring and retainer choice.
Also Thunder Racing (salesman) said 7.4 rods will be the right size.
Would longer rods be better?

ls6 springs should be fine... you dont need retainers, get the hardened pushrods its just extra insurance... the 7.4 pushrods is stock size, you can get those just hardened ones...

you didnt need to waste your money on retainers but thats water under the bridge now. with that kinda lift you didnt NEED new springs either but o well. good luck, update when the install is finished!

You just may have set a new record as to lowest mileage engine to receive a cam swap
I cracked into mine with 12,800 on the clock and swapped out to my LS6 cam. With your 3.42 gears, factory converter, ext cab Z71 truck I think this cam was a very wise choice in cam selection. With this cam you will feel an good enhancement through the whole powercurve and even build power up and beyond your factory cam. With those taller gears and shift points set to 61 or 6200 it will make for good strong highway passing power. Also I am willing to bet properly tuned you see 1 MPG increase in town and 2 on the highway. The cam should idle close to stock with a touch of lope but with a deeper exhaust note. Good choice on the GM springs. They will have a much longer life, they're softer and not so harsh on valve train components. The LS6 cam has a .525 lift and I am running the softer of the two springs (blue) and they're as quiet as can be. I've never run the 918's personally but I hear complaints on this board of a "sewing machine" sound. I would think that the sound most hear is attributed to the ramp profile on the aggressive cams they order and what they're actually hearing is the valve snapping shut at the last possible second that the valve event allows. Anywho, I'll shut up but congrats and if you need any tips installing anything let me know. I'll be glad to help in anyway I can

I won't be racing corvettes, but it should be fun to drive.
I've been wondering about the springs.
Is there any advantage to running the ls6 springs (03)?

Tom,
Either LS6 spring is great. The yellow ones I believe will take up to a .550 lift where the blue ones are good for a max of .530 (softer). Someone correct me on the specs but if you got a good deal on either or don't hesitate to put them in. Just remember, things from the general are made to run 100K+ so when you can, stick to factory

Right, and then you'll have the springs installed if you ever want to go with a higher lift cam
Tom, PM me if you need to borrow the air compressor tool to hold the valves up and a valve spring compressor. Oh and I also have the longer crank bolt you'll need.
