Default Need Advice On Belt Throwing Problem!!!

I just got a new cam in last week and this created the need to raise the shift points and rev limiter. They are arounf 6200-6400 and the limiter is set around 6900 or 7000. I dont have my laptop with me and its been a long weekend but regardless you see that they arent that high. Ok so on to the problem. Damn near EVERYTIME I do a WOT run it throughs the AC belt. Its no damaging it at all just throughing it. I know that dropping the shift points,etc.. could be the fix but thats not acceptable to me. I know that alot of the Vette guys have these problems and the change the tensioner out but I didnt know if anyone here has had this problem and if so what did you do? Thank!

The only time I have ever had ANY belt issues is once when I didn't get the crank pulley tight enough and it started walking out. If you just got a cam in, is it possible that the crank pulley is not fully seated or walking? Did it ever do that before the cam change? Just a thought.

I shift the Hauler's 408 at 6800-6900 and it doesn't throw it.....maybe the tensioner.

Ive tightned and re-checked numerous times. My buddy who is a GM tech mentioned that its a common problem with the Vettes and that alot of them replace the tensioner with an adjustable one. Im gonna do some research on if it will work. If it will work Ill try it out rather than putting a stock one on. Thanks for the help!

You could always pull a stock tensioner apart and crank the spring down a little (it's a pain to do but it's free)

Its also easier to try buying a shorter A/C belt!!! Just a though but it might tighten down the tensioner more.

I had the same problem with my ac belt. I just got a new belt like someone said before. That fixed it. Belt are cheap and easy to fix so i would try that first. It worked for me and only cost $5 and 10 mins to fix.
