NBS vs NNBS Starter Differences?

Default NBS vs NNBS Starter Differences?

Hey guys, I have a couple LQ9 starts laying around, wondering if they can be used on a 6L80/90? I assume they can just wanted to check.

Both flexplates are 168 tooth. My bet is yes. I do know 6.0/6.2 starters are longer than 4.8/5.3/5.7 starters.

The newer starters have 9 teeth on the bendix and a plug on the solenoid instead of a stud. The older ones have 11 teeth. I think they interchange as mentioned because the flexplate is the same tooth count. I want to get the proper metric pack plug and retro my gen 3 stuff. Gm sells the starter brand new for my 2017s L96 for less than most want for a cheapy reman lol.

The NNBS starter is definitely smaller, and therefore the plastic dust cover for the starter is different, but the starters are interchangeable no doubt about it. Obviously the little plug for the solenoid is a weatherpack fitting on the NNBS starter and on the NBS starter it's a little stud. I ended up buying a brand new GM NNBS starter for like $100 bux. Hopefully it sounds like a 2018 Express van when I start it up.

No one could really answer this for me, but the answer is the 6L80/90 starters are definitely different. When using a 6L80/90 you need the 6L80/90 starter. I ended up buying a new AC Delco starter for a 2019 Express van.
