Read everything you can about putting a Gen IV in a Gen III equipped vehicle and reverse it. The main problem is Lingenfelter makes a converter box to convert the 58X crank signal to the 24X signal the ECM requires and as far as I know, there is nothing out there to do the opposite. It would appear the answer would be to pull the crank to have a 58X reluctor wheel installed and then everything would be pretty basic from there on.

Oh a Gen III swap into a Gen IV you need to relocate cam sensors.... the make a harness for that........... like 1bear said I don't know about converting 58x to 24x signal........ but I'm sure its been done ......... but you might have to change the crank and cam timing gear........... at that point you should just get a Gen 4 motor

if you already have a 07+ GMT900 find a short block from that year. it'll be cheaper vs pulling the crank, putting a 58x reluctor ring, swapping to a 4x timing gear, drilling the side of the block to put the knock sensors. its easier to put a 58x into a 24x bc you can just add a harness, add a 58x to 24x conversion module.
