Default NA 5.3 suggestions

Im planning on building my 5.3 heads, cam, rockers and rods if needed. This is a daily driver but my goal is 400 RWHP. Im looking for reccomendations and ideas on how this can be done. I allready have a 3K stall, so Im not worried about a higher RPM cam. What would your list of parts be to meet these goals.

I've yet to hear of any 5.3 hitting those numbers N/A. Not saying it can't be done, but I'd expect to lose a lot of driveability in the process. You're going to need to "pull every trick in the book". ALL the bolt-ons, LT headers, ported TB, UP, electric fans, electric water pump, a nice set of Stage II LS6 heads or maybe AFR's, a pretty good size cam(T-rex, G5X2,3,4, TSP 231/237, 233/239 etc), cut-outs, some kick-*** tuning, and then some. Not an easy task, but attainable. Good luck and will love to hear how you accomplished it.

Is the ported throttle body worth the money? I'm basically down to nothing on bolt ons, and was considering one. Are they worth the money? Thanks

It's good for about 2-8hp. Try doing a search, I think there are a few posts on how to go about porting a throttle body at home. Worth the money when you're trying to get every last bit of power.

If you want 400rwhp+ just go FI or nitrous.... Hands down. EVEN IF you get to 400rwhp N/A you're drivability will probably be crap, as well as your gas milage and passing smog will never happen. Then you HP/TQ curve will never look like that of an FI truck.

I mean N/A on a 5.3L. Big strokers are another issues

231/237, 233/239
all i know is my bros is in a 408 and his cam isnt even that damn big if you put that thing in a 5.3 i would be surprised if you didnt have to two foot drive that thing even after the best tune possible 400 rwhp is going to be pretty damn hard to achieve again not impossible but hard as @!#$ and instead of porting the TB i would suggest just getting a bigger one and if you plan again on daily driver here is another vote for absolutely no driveability do what you want but i go for FI or nitrous or hell just go get a 6.0 and tweak that much less trouble and cheaper too
