Default My UPD intake tube (pics)

Here are a few pics of the UPD intake tube I made using parts from shop.airflowonline.com. I wanted to try this because I have heard about people getting some nice gains from the intake but most suffered from the tube seperating after just a short time of use. I have had the intake on for approximately a month and have not had any problems. Once it warms up I plan on doing some simple adjustments as well as painting the tube and cutting the bolts on the T-bolt clamps. As you can see in the last few pics the upper radiator hose comes in contact with the tube so I am trying to figure out something to eliminate this. I was thinking of shortening the metal tube coming out of the waterpump but I noticed today it has a rib on it to top the hose from going any further. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Also as you can see the tube isnt exactly straight from the TB to the lid. Once I get electric fans I can fix this by adding a short piece of hose to the TB and moving the Cobra Elbow out an inch or so. Just thought I would let people know about my setup. Any questions/suggestions are more than welcome.

Nice cars, love the Grand National, are they both pretty close to 100% restored?? Also, are those the only pics you have of the intake, and is that a UPD box cover?? THANKS again!!

For those having trouble using the links I posted above, please use the link in my signature and you can get to the same place. As of now those are the only pics I have. I purchased a black UPD lid direct from them for $79.00. The tubing parts are as follows:

(1) 4" 15* elbow---$35.00
(1) 4" Cobra Head elbow---$35.00
(1) 3.5" x 4" rubber "hump" hose---17.00
(4) 4" SS T-Bolt clamps---$17.00

Total is still less than a complete UPD unit and I wont have to worry about the UPD tube cracking.

As for my cars shown. I just sold my Grand National in October. Just basic modifications and ran low 13's on pump gas, street tires and 17 lbs of boost. The 1969 Firebird was a 400 car that had a mild cam but mismatched heads from a 1971 455 HO which resulted in extremely low compression (like 7.5:1) Would have been nice to hold on to it but unfortunately I couldnt. Someday I will own another one as many people thought it was a 1969 Camaro and I loved telling them they were wrong. Any other questions please feel free to ask. Thanks!

All the parts I bought came from http://shop.airflowonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv. Some of the parts are not shown online, but if you go to "links" you can go to the manufacturers website for thr products and download each manufacturers catalog. The 4" Cobra Head and 4" x 15* elbow were the 2 not on the site but available from them. Let me know if you have anymore questions/suggestions. Anyone have any ideas about the waterpump tube and how I could make the upper radiator hose not touch the intake tube? Thanks

Nice setup.....

The '69 Firebird is VERY nice (it side-tracked me from your original post ). I would love to have one to park beside my '95 T/A!!
