Default My turn for a cam question....

I am going to be getting a cam for the 5.3 soon and I have been talking to a few different people about what size cam to get. I have a chance to get a 224/224 114 lsa with a .58x lift.

Okay to the question, I have been told that a 224/228 110 lsa with a .6xx lift would be a torque monster down low. Is that a true statement? Would I be better with a split duration or a solid duration?

Would any one have a suggestion for what size cam to get? My set up is a set of heads that are P&P milled .030, 2400-2600 stall torque converter, 4.56 gears, on 35" tires.

Thanks in advance.

I know that the cam questions have been asked over and over again.

If I remember correctly, low lift .53xish will be more torque rather than .6xx.

216/220, 220/200 and 224/224 would all be awesome cams in a 5.3. I guess it all personal preference and this point.

with my tsp220 i felt very very little low end loss if any and tons in midrange and top end, with a stall it would be awsome.

oh btw did you send those papers out, i havnt got them yet if you did?

i personally run a ls6 204/218 duration, got the cam for cheap, so i ran it. i really like it how it runs, as i have never went with a bigger cam, but ive heard good things about the tr220

work on getting the DCR around 8.5 with your heads, and keep the duration low around 220 and let the LSA fall in where the overlap is not too high, and the advance nets you closer to the goal DCR. If just N/A and you have a good tuner go with lsa's in the 110 to 108 range. Anything above 220 intake will suck with a 2600 stall. just my $.02
