Default My turn to ask a cam question

Well I have decided to go the n/a route and get some of the WCCH heads that grippy just got and now I need to select a cam. First of all I have a heavy truck but I do have a 3000 stall so low down power is not needed. I want something that has a really nice choppy idle where you know when I pull up that I have a cam. For those of you have heard 01thunder's truck thats what I am looking for. I will be spraying about 100 wet shot of nitrous so the exhaust needs to be opened up some. It will be going in a 6L not the 5.3 that is currently going in it. I want something has good power from 3000 to 6500 or so. I have talked to Richard from WCCH and he recommended something like a 228 with a 112lsa with about 550 lift. Anybody have any suggestions or had good experience with a particular cam that would work well with what my goals are.

Thanks, Cody

Give a couple of other folks a telephone call -- Allen Futral, Roger Vinci come to mind

He's saying if you call up Allan @ Futral Motorsports or Roger @ Vinci Hi, you'll find a camshaft better suited for your particular setup.

Do you have the flow sheet from those heads? If not then I would talk to the people who designed the heads. A cam should be matched to the heads, not just chosen because someone said it worked well in his Uncle Rico's truck.

If you do have the sheet then you can fax it to other cam grinders along with your mods and plans for how you want to use the truck and they can come up with a good spec.

They are going to have the same flow chart basically as Grippy's heads cause Im getting the same ones. Richard from WCCH recommended one like what I described above. I just wanted to get everyone elses opinion before I went off the deep end and bought my cam.

He wants a choppy idle and a 6L is going to eat that up. I vote my favorite cam for a 6.0....TR230. That ought to make that 6.0 shake, rattle, and roll.
