Default Is my Stock MAF hurting my Camd 6L preformance?

Well guys just as it reads, is it hurting me much? I got a camed lq4 with a tbss intake and 90mm TB. I know the intake tube necks down to around 3.5in where the stock maf is.

pop the screen out and it will already almost flow as much as aftermarket units, im sure theres minimal restriction the $$ for larger maf sensors just isnt worth it to me..money better spent else where

^^ no reason to pop the screen out, it is there for a reason. Doubt your getting hurt hard by the MAF it self, but you could prob pick a little more power up with a SD tune, but you do not have any FI, so I say your MAF tune is fine.. I wouldn't sweat it.

most aftermarket maf's dont have a screen...your filter is also there for a reason. also how could you recommend an sd tune when that will ditch the maf all together includings its "screen". i was just implying the difference in performance between stock and after market maf's isnt worth the $

This is something I have never understood very well... if it was needed then why do the aftermarket models not have them and why do the newer models not have them either?

The screens straighten air flow out. Look at what BlackGMC did when he added his bigger card style maf he added screens....

Anyways back to the original question

many things are "needed" EGR system, coolant flowing through throttle body, catalytic converters. you can bet im gonna ditch certain things GM thinks is needed. if you have an intact air filter i can tell you a screen is not necessary..its more for insurance.

my screen got thrown out bout 5 years ago.

Are you running the stock airbox? If so, I would say its hurting you more than the maf. cut a hole in the bottom of the stock airbox, and the stamped steel plate underneath it. This gave me a 3kpa reduction in vacuum at WOT.
