Default My impression of the Yank TT3000

I just got this unit and a Transgo shift kit installed last night and after a hundred miles of driving I can honestly say I VERY happy with this unit. I think it is perfect for my application. I wanted something to getme off the line faster yet not blow off the tires too bad or be too loose at part throttle because my truck is so gutless on the bottom end.

Part throttle is now better than it was before and the truck feels more agressive durring normal driving. Full throttle is not real impressive for the simple fact that I am used to a mid 11sec N/A Trans Am with a 4400 stall converter but it does feel much faster now but I do need to put it into Auto 4x4 to keep the tires from spinning which is cool considering I am running 285/75/16s. I can't wait till I get some stock sized tires back on this thing so I can take it back to the track. Then I'll install my new headers and electric fans

Sounds like a good convertor...trucks are nothing like the cars but still fun!

Let's see how much it helps the 60 foot times!

F8LPONY your truck sounds identical to mine. z71 EC, and pretty much the same mods. the only times i have are from a g-tech competition pro. i haven't made that many runs, but i averaged 4 runs that i did, and i came up with the following numbers.

1/4 = 15.625 @ 91.045 mph
60' = 2.705
0-60 = 7.367

i have a yank3000 waiting on the floor here to be installed. i just order eaton posi less than an hour ago. i hope to get that 60' times down to 2.2 or 2.3 with the yank. i might install some eletric fans too, that might improve the 60'. was the times (15.3) in your sig before the yank? because if they were, you should be in the 14's after the install. how sweet would that be

You will need some sticky tires Drag Radials or ET Streets to get the full benefit of the Yank 3000.With street radial you can expect 2.0s to 2.10s with Drag Radials you could expect 1.7s to 1.9s.

I get 1.7s and Parish8 has nipped into the 1.6s with 4WD HI. I don't think there is a need for slicks.

You need the sticky tires with 2wd.You also need a strong rearend and transmission if you're making big horsepower.

Sorry for not answering right away.

Anyway, the time in my sig was my avg. on the G-Tech in 60deg temps up AND down the same road.

I then installed taller tires and my times went to hell. Now I can only run 15.80s on the G-Tech and 15.90s at the track so I am selling these tires and going back to stock size.

After the Yank I have only G-Teched it once and that was in 90deg temps right off the freeway and did a 15.4 but couldnt go in the other direction and was not very confident of anything with these damn tires so I have not ran it again. I'll get these tires off and try to run it before I install the AS&M headers that just came in.

Ohh also, 2wd will be hard to launch with this converter on street tires. Even my 32" tall tires will spin if I stall it up a bit beofre leaving the line, I can only imagine what a smaller tire would be like. So I launch in Auto 4wh to get all I can out of it.
