Is my Gtech broke???
#1
I bought one of the cheaper G-TECH Performance Meters that will only do the
HP, 60 and 1/4 mile times for like $26 on Ebay.
Well yesterday I tried it out. I entered the Gross Vehicle Weight. I believe that the GVWR for my truck is 6400. But I think that means full capacity with 2 adults in it as well. Since it was just me I entered in 6359. I ran two runs. One read 332 HP and the other 324. My 1/4 mile time was 15.39 @ 96.1 MPH.
Does that seem right with my truck and mods? I was happy with it until I was checking out some times and HP on here and noticed that someone running in the low 15's was getting around 280 HP.

The older G-Techs do not work well in vehicles that don't stay perfectly flat during accelleration. In trucks the only thing they are useful for is comparing performance before and after a mod.

The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is when properly equipped and includes Weight of vehicle, drivers, passengers, cargo and optional equipment. This assumes that you have a driver plus 4 Passengers, and whatever the cargo weight rating is for hauling stuff in the bed. According to Chevrolet website the curb weight of your truck is 5185. If you put 5185 in your G-Tech meter you will probably get a more accurate horsepower reading.
