Angry my DMH cut-out, well, cut out...

figured i'd put this in the GM section cause it'd get more views...

but, i bought two slightly used cutouts off a member this past june, then finally got around to having my exhaust reworked about 2 and a half weeks ago...

well today, i noticed my truck wasnt as loud as usual with the cutouts open so i decided to have a gander under the truck to see what the deal was.

turns out one of my cutouts only opens about 1/4 of the way and then just stops...i can push it closed by hand, but am not able to pull it all the way open. seems like it is stuck on something...

so, has this happened with anyone else? i assume it has, because a fellow member of a dodge forum i'm on is having the same issue right now.

is there an easy fix to this, or should i just call DMH since the cutout is still under warranty??

I would call up DMH and ask them if it is covered under warranty. Since you bought them used IDK if they transfer the warranty.

Off topic but how much louder is a dual cutout setup vs a single cutout?

yeah, i'll call and see...if not, i'll just break down and buy a new one

and it's much louder, lol

i didnt think i would notice it a whole lot, but once i got them wired up and took the truck for a spin...it was very obvious how much louder the truck was/is

i went from longtubes -->y-pipe -->3" QTP cutout -->single in/dual out flowmaster

to

longtubes --> dual 2.5" piping -->x-pipe -->dual DMH cutouts -->dual in/dual out Pypes Performance muffler (that i got for free )

and i absolutely LOVE my new setup...well, 'cept for the whole cutout issue now

It will be covered, make sure there is nothing in the way of the valve, I would unbolt it off the truck and take a look.
Tell Dave that they were originally purchased from me (Im a Dealer)

Make sure your wiring harness has no way of touching the exhaust pipe.

Awesome, thanks Derek! Very good sponsor help there.

feels a little stronger up top for sure with the cutouts open, gotta get to the track to give a full analysis...i honestly havent opened her up much on the street since the changes. the whole setup cost me around 500 installed...250 for the cutouts, 216 for the installation, muffer was free because pypes performance used a truck in an add on a dodge site i belong too...i got wind of it, and after seeing it for about a month sent them an email about it...they handled it very professionally and sent me a muffler of my choice. the particular one i got retails for 110 + shipping and they sent it no questions asked. and i must say, it's a good muffler...mellow at idle, but screams when i get on it...exactly what i wanted
